Food Bank
Today at school we had a kaleidascope fieldtrip (kaleidascope is just one of my classes at school) we went to the food bank! It was really fun because we got to help out, labeling the cans and picking out the rotten foods. The cans were huge! You got to get a big green piece of paper, and then we put a little white sticker stating the name of the food on top of the green piece of paper. Then you took that and taped it onto the can. After that, you took the can and put it on the end of the table, so the deliverers ( I tried that job by the way ) took it and put it on the next table, then the packers ( tried that job as well ) put the cans into the proper box, then they put the filled boxes under the table. After I had been doing that for a while, I tried food inspection, so I put on my gloves, and I inspected the grape tomatoes. I picked out the squishy ones and threw them away. After that, I remembered when my friend came out with dirty gloves and I asked her why, she replied with " there were maggots in my can" so I avoided going to can inspection and went back to packaging. Then it was time for lunch! I enjoyed my turkey sandwich with baked chips and a brownie with some coco-cola! I loved it! Then the assistant volunteer coordinator filled us in about how their pantry can hold 3 million pounds of food!!! Also she told us that since the recession, their donations have gone down 20% and their need for food to give to the hungry has gone up 40% which isn't good. Haha, anyway, next we went to the fridge, then the freezer. I got cold. Then we went back to class! If your interested in volunteering, then consider contacting your local food pantry! I know I'll be volunteering! Until next time!

Wow Eden, you ought to tell your pap that fact about okie and the hungry people, he thinks they are all in WV! LOL This is great that you had the opportunity to do this! Don't ever forget the people around you with needs! We need to see them thru the eyes of the Lord! If we can't help those, who need help, as Christians, then, what good really are we? I mean, God blesses us, only...so we can BE....blessings to others!! Think about it. Love ya great blogs!!
